Different charges serve different purposes
An entry fee can cover participation in an assessment process. A charge after selection might relate to a physical item, event access, licensed materials or another service. Some programmes impose compulsory conditions on winners. Others allow recipients to decline optional purchases.
These arrangements should be examined separately. The existence of a payment alone does not reveal the assessment method, and the label “partnership” alone does not explain a proposal's obligations.
Read the published terms
The Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards publish entry fees by category. That is an example of a stated entry policy, not evidence about WCRC's terms or the credibility of every paid programme.
Before entering any programme, check its eligibility, evidence requirements, judging method, fee schedule and conditions attached to winner status. A cost introduced only after selection should still be explained clearly before an entrant makes a commitment.
WCRC's recognition policy
Only qualified and selected companies receive WCRC recognition. Qualification follows the applicable programme's evaluation framework. A partnership purchase cannot confer recognition or alter an evaluation outcome.
A selected company receives and retains its recognition without purchasing a partnership, attending an event or buying media services. Declining those purchases does not remove its recognition.
WCRC partnership proposals
All paid WCRC engagements are offered through partnership proposals. The accepted proposal defines the commercial services and deliverables agreed between the parties. Recognition qualification and the commercial engagement have distinct purposes.
Read the scope, charges, applicable taxes, delivery schedule and payment terms. Check cancellation or refund provisions and any usage rights attached to commercial materials. Do not infer which services are included from a recognition announcement.
Ask the questions that matter
Ask whether a payment affects qualification, whether attendance is compulsory for retaining recognition, and what happens if optional services are declined. Then ask which evidence and criteria determine the assessment. Clear answers to both the research and commercial questions give the arrangement its meaning.
For WCRC, the recognition-independence principle is stated on this site and in the published research independence policy. For an individual proposal, request clarification of the specific service or condition before agreeing to it.
